Each year there are limited places available for entry into other year groups.

Whilst it is less common for pupils to transfer to Post Primary Education during Years 9-12 we still have the facility to accommodate anyone who wishes to apply. Firstly, you will be made very welcome if you are considering Newry High School and secondly, you will be guided and advised through every step of the process. Applications at this stage in a student’s school career can be as a result of a multitude of reasons and we ensure that all applications will be treated with the utmost respect and sensitivity.

All those seeking Admission will be required to provide the most recent reports from their present school.

Following receipt of an application, the school will advise parents as to the next steps to be taken. It should be noted that those who have made an application, but have failed to obtain a place in the school, will be placed on a reserve list.

We aim to give new pupils a warm welcome. Every new pupil will be met by their Year Head on their first day to welcome them to Newry High school and answer any initial queries that they might have. Each pupil will receive their new timetable and have the opportunity to meet their new classmates in their registration class. All of our pupils are friendly and welcoming, but each pupil will have a nominated ‘Buddy’ who will help answer any questions and act as a guide, particularly during the first few days. The Year Tutor will provide an individualised induction for each pupil which will ensure the needs of every pupil are met. They will also address queries relating to accessing their bus pass, class times, user ID and password for C2K computers, Google Classroom, VLE and the school printer network to ensure pupils settle in quickly.
